Being cast in her screen debut as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's runaway 1978 hit Halloween brought pretty much overnight success. Jamie Lee would also star in Halloween II and a couple of much later revivals of the Michael Myers franchise. For a while, dubbed as pretty much the queen of scream queens, it seemed as if she might get typecast in the horror genre, heading up a string of creepy follow-ups such as The Fog, Prom Night and Terror Train.
She broke free of potental typecasting as she matured, however, by taking leading roles in some comedic movie classics such as Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda and True Lies. She has taken a bunch of television roles too, as well as more gritty cinematic fare such as Blue Steel. More recently she has become a best-selling author of children's books mostly and a a blogger for The Huffington Post. Married to This Is Spinal Tap actor Christopher Guest, who inherited the title of Barony of Haden-Guest, she is entitled to call herself Lady Haden-Guest. Certainly Jamie Lee's movie nude scenes belong among the crown jewels of silver screen pervdom.
