Jane March was born in Edgware, London, on 20 March 1973. Her exotic looks - her schoolteacher dad is English of Spanish descent and her mum is of Vietnamese-Chinese origin - saw her win a 'Become A Model' contest at age 14. She had a successful modelling career, before she was spotted by French director Jean-Jacques Annaud on the cover of Just Seventeen magazine and cast in the controversial erotic movie The Lover.
False rumours about the movie's sex scenes between 18-year-old March and co-star Tony Leung being real brought the film great controversy and put bums on seats. Jane March didn't speak to Arnaud for not quashing the rumours for over a decade, until he made a public apology in a magazine interview.
