Quite a few English language movies followed such as Naked Tango, Becoming Colette, The Tit And The Moon, and The Jackal. But most of Mathilda's work has been in movies made in her native French. She won the Prix Romy Schneider in 1989.
Born Karima Mathilda Haïm in Saint-Ouen, Paris, on 8 February 1965, Mathilda originally trained as a ballet dancer, at age 16 winning first prize at ther Paris Dance Conservatory. Her mother is the Swedish ballet teacher and choreographer Margareta Hanson, while her father is French playwright Victor Haïm, who is descended from a Greek and Turkish Jewish family.
Mathilda May has been married three times and, in addition to her acting career, released a music album. She starred in the space adventure game Privateer 2: The Darkening, but it's still her role in Lifeforce which sends our pocket rockets soaring!
