Sexy Johannesburg-born actress Jessica Marais has Australians claiming her as one of their own too. She moved to Oz aged nine after brief stays also in New Zealand and Canada. She and her sister were raised by their mother after her father's untimely death just six months after the family emigrated to Australia. Jessica studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. She was in her final year there when she won the lead role of Rachel Rafter in the Australian comedy series Packed To The Rafters, alongside co-star and fellow NIDA graduate Hugh Sheridan.

She became a famous face in Oz over four seasons in the hit show and won the Logie Award for Most Outstanding New Talent. She had a five-year engagement and child with another show co-star, James Stewart. Jessica moved to Hollywood after leaving Packed To The Rafters, winning the role of Lily Diamond in two series of the television show Magic City. She also landed the role of Mord'Sith Denna in the US TV series Legend Of The Seeker. After some time off raising her daughter, Jessica has more recently returned to acting, portrayingd Australian transgender entertainer and activist Carlotta in a popular biopic for ABCTV Australia.
